A little familiar sequence with 100% AFOUR sounds only. Not at the sound patch design phase yet, but of course we can't stay away from trying ideas and playing around now and then. :)

Working with pixel fonts brings back lovely memories from the glory days of c64 and Amiga. We are creating a couple of custom made fonts for AFOUR, to maximize readability and optimize the use of the tiny screen, and of course also to match the Apæron brand and give the synth some personality. ...and Yes! We've updated to a new beautiful screen with 480 x 192 pixels, even including some colors. :)

We love the tactile feeling of wood and AFOUR will have several details in oak. Working with wood adds some "interesting" challenges that comes with all natural, living materials, but we embrace them and work our way to a solution that will give AFOUR a really nice and premium personality, that will age with dignity.

One of the candidates for front panel is aluminium. This will give a no-flexy rock solid front that looks really good together with the wooden details.

First version of the display. A 128 x 64 black and white screen. Got to be careful how we use those precious pixels to be able to show the info in an intuitive way. November update: We changed this display for a better one!

Welcome to the journey of AFOUR! This project started in 2024. We're still exploring hardware, materials, software and design. The all important sounds of AFOUR is always present, turning those 44 knobs to find out which parameters ends up in the most interesting and useful sounds.
